On March 5, 2027, at Eurythmie in Montauban, Goran Bregović comes to remind us why his music is instantly recognizable. A composer born in Sarajevo and a major figure on the Balkan stages since the 1970s, he has built a language of his own, a fusion of fanfares, chants, rock pulsations, and folk traditions. Pieces such as Kalashnikov, Bella Ciao, or the indispensable Ederlezi (Time of the Gypsies) tell this frontal, immediate blend, which passes unfiltered from the collective to the intimate.
On stage, Bregović relies on his Orchestra of Weddings and Funerals, a living machine made of brass, choirs and rhythms that advance like a party in motion. The power of the ensemble and the composer’s writing respond to each other continually, with his distinctive knack for alternating festive trance and more suspended moments. A concert where tradition rubs up against the present, without superficial folklore, just raw energy and a sonic signature unlike any other.
