Guus Meeuwis

On 1 April 2027 Guus Meeuwis will be at Rotterdam Ahoy. Since the mid-1990s the Brabant-born singer has been building a Dutch-language pop catalogue of simple melodies, acoustic ballads and mid-tempo songs about everyday life. He began with Vagant and broke through in 1995 with Het is een nacht (Levensecht). After that a steady run of solo albums followed, including Hemel nr. 7, Armen open, Hollandse meesters, Geluk, Deel Zoveel and Uit het hoofd.

At Ahoy Meeuwis presents a set that shifts between restrained verses and choruses that get the audience singing along. A cross-section of his career is to be expected: early classics alongside more recent work, performed with a band that leaves room for harmonies and brief anecdotes between songs. The approach from his Groots met een zachte G series comes through: accessible, intimate, without unnecessary frills.

Rotterdam Ahoy is familiar ground for Meeuwis; on 1 April 2027 he returns with a show that leans on recognition, melody and lyrics.
