Dizzee Rascal

On 28 September 2026 Dizzee Rascal will perform at TivoliVredenburg in Utrecht. The London MC, raised in Bow in the east of the city, broke through in the early 2000s via pirate radio: first as a drum-and-bass DJ, then as an MC and producer. As a co-founder of Roll Deep he helped shape grime: a tight, sometimes high‑pitched flow over dry, angular beats with the drive of UK garage, basslines and British hip hop. With the single “I Luv U” and the debut album Boy in da Corner (Mercury Prize, 2003) he made his mark, followed by Showtime and Maths + English, plus one-off collaborations with, among others, Arctic Monkeys and Basement Jaxx.

From Tongue n’ Cheek (2009) he opened his sound toward pop and dance, heard in work with Calvin Harris, Florence + the Machine and Shakira. He later returned to a more direct grime tone on Raskit (2017), followed by E3 AF (2020) and Don’t Take It Personal (2024). On stage he brings those paths together: fast rhythms, tight hooks and tracks that switch between early landmark pieces and more recent material.
