Jay-z

Jay-Z is scheduled to appear on 10 September 2026 at the Stade de France in Saint-Denis. Born Shawn Corey Carter in Brooklyn, he was shaped by the New York scene of the late 1980s, first alongside Jaz-O and then in the orbit of Big Daddy Kane, before co-founding Roc-A-Fella Records in 1995 to release his own records. His rap has its roots in the East Coast and mafioso rap traditions: dense lyricism, urban storytelling, a taste for double meanings, and a measured delivery over soul and boom-bap productions that have gradually incorporated R&B and pop.

His solo discography includes Reasonable Doubt (1996), In My Lifetime, Vol. 1 (1997), Vol. 2... Hard Knock Life (1998), The Blueprint (2001), The Black Album (2003), American Gangster (2007), The Blueprint 3 (2009), Magna Carta Holy Grail (2013) and 4:44 (2017). He is also responsible for notable collaborative projects, from Watch the Throne with Kanye West (2011) to Everything Is Love with Beyoncé under the name The Carters (2018). Between leadership at Def Jam, the launch of Roc Nation, and his shifts between street rap and mainstream formats, Jay-Z continues to move between his New York heritage and major international stages.
