Info
Buzzcocks hit the 100 Club in London on 3 December 2026. Formed out of the Manchester punk surge in 1976 by Pete Shelley and Howard Devoto, quickly joined by Steve Diggle, the band forged a fast, melodic approach that matched punk urgency with pop-shaped hooks. After the DIY jolt of Spiral Scratch in 1977 and Devoto’s departure, Shelley steered the classic run from 1977 to 1981 with Another Music in a Different Kitchen, Love Bites and A Different Kind of Tension: short songs, direct riffs, and lyrics circling desire, doubt and the push-and-pull of daily life.
Reformed at the end of the 80s, Buzzcocks kept writing and touring with Trade Test Transmissions, All Set, Modern, Buzzcocks and Flat-Pack Philosophy. Following Pete Shelley’s passing in 2018, Steve Diggle took the lead vocal and guitar role, carrying the thread through The Way and, more recently, Sonics in the Soul in 2022. On stage, the group leans into tight arrangements, brisk tempos and choruses built to stick, letting early singles sit naturally alongside newer material. This date at the 100 Club draws a straight line from the band’s first DIY spark to its present tense, with Diggle fronting a set that stays true to Buzzcocks’ crisp, melodic and no-frills songwriting.
