Cineclub 113: La Danza de los Mirlos - Vitu Valera

Sala Apolo and In-Edit present Cineclub 113. Every Monday in July and August, La (3) becomes an open-air cinema.

Nine music documentaries that explore Latin music and club culture. A selection of films that have screened at the In-Edit Barcelona Festival in recent editions. Each screening is accompanied by a DJ set inspired by the film.

The Amazonian cumbia band Los Mirlos represents the synthesis of a musical genre that arises from ancestry, family and the exploration of other rhythms, such as the psychedelic rock of the ’60s. Together with the band’s leader and vocalist, Jorge Rodríguez, we embark on a journey to the heart of Latin America.

Álvaro Luque studied in Argentina at the Fundación Universidad del Cine (FUC). In Peru, he developed his career as a director. He co-founded the production company Saturno with his brother Alonso. His first short film, LUX (2014), received the Special Jury Prize at Curta Cinema in Rio de Janeiro and was selected at various international festivals. He is currently working on his first feature-length documentary, La danza de los mirlos, which tells the story of the Amazonian cumbia band.
