Info
Oakwood bring their melodic emo and indie-punk grit to The Great Hall in Toronto on September 28, 2026. Formed in 2013 between Midland and Odessa before moving to Austin, the Texas trio of Mat, Noah and TJ has built a tight, guitar-driven sound where clean lines slip into a rougher edge and songs cut straight to the point. After their early releases quietly resurfaced online and sparked a fully sold-out run in 2025, the band pushed forward with Blurred Away, recorded by Phil Odom and mastered by Will Yip. The record channels grief and emotional dread into something direct and cathartic, leaning into the tuneful urgency of Algernon Cadwallader, Jimmy Eat World, Title Fight and Jets to Brazil without losing their own punch. Recent tracks like Footnote and A Tangled Mess extend that path: compact writing, brisk tempos, and melodies that sit on top of nervy guitars. On stage, Oakwood keep it lean and physical, drawing from a decade of DIY roots and a catalogue that favors momentum over ornament, clarity over spectacle.
