Rosendo

A pillar of Spanish rock, Rosendo Mercado — guitarist and songwriter from Madrid’s Carabanchel — takes the stage at The George Tavern in London on 16 June 2026. First heard in the mid‑70s with Ñu, he founded Leño in 1977 and sketched an urban hard rock fed by rock’n’roll and blues rock. With Leño, the albums Leño (1979), Más madera (1980) and ¡Corre, corre! (1982) fixed a lean guitar sound, tight riffs and lyrics rooted in everyday language.

After Leño split in 1983, Rosendo went solo and kept the course with Loco por incordiar (1985), Fuera de lugar (1986), Jugar al gua (1988), La tortuga (1992) and Para mal o para bien (1994). From the late 90s he honed a power‑trio format — guitar, bass, drums — stripping arrangements back, often mid‑tempo, with the words up front. That path runs through A tientas y barrancas (1998), Canciones para normales y mero dementes (2001), Vergüenza torera (2013) and De escalde y trinchera (2017).

On stage, expect dry, cutting guitar lines, sturdy rhythms and straight‑talking songs drawn from a catalog that spans four decades, from Leño foundations to solo milestones.
