Info
Deaf Havana land at The Academy, Dublin, on 21 October 2026. Formed in 2005 between Hunstanton and King’s Lynn, the band first made its mark on the UK post-hardcore circuit with tense guitars and split vocals. The departure of Ryan Mellor in 2010 marked a shift: under James Veck-Gilodi’s lead, their writing moved toward a more melodic alternative rock, where folk-tinged textures and introspective lyrics found space to breathe. That arc runs through Fools and Worthless Liars and Old Souls, then All These Countless Nights and Rituals, balancing drive with broader arrangements and pop-aware hooks.
Since 2021, Deaf Havana has been a duo with brothers James and Matthew Veck-Gilodi. In this lean setup they released The Present Is a Foreign Land in 2022, followed by We’re Never Getting Out in 2025. On stage, the pair leans into direct, personal songwriting without dropping the bite of their early years, tying new material to older tracks from across their catalog. A set that maps the band’s path from raw beginnings to a clearer, more open sound.
