On August 31, 2026, SAT – Société des Arts Technologiques in Montréal hosts a Nocturne night of MUTEK 27 with a lineup tracing different currents of contemporary electronic music: Matthew Herbert & Julian Sartorius, A Made Up Sound / 2562, Nazar, Dana Ruh and Purelink.
Matthew Herbert appears in duo with Julian Sartorius, folding meticulous sample craft, everyday sound and club rhythm into an onstage exchange. Herbert’s long‑running practice moves between minimal house, musique concrète, jazz and orchestral writing; here it sharpens into detail, pulse and hands‑on experimentation.
Under the aliases A Made Up Sound and 2562, Dutch producer Dave Huismans has threaded dubstep weight into techno architecture, favoring stripped dynamics and percussive momentum. His set pivots around drums, space and low end, honed for a dancefloor that listens as much as it moves.
Born between Brussels and Luanda, Nazar reworks kuduro into a raw, high‑velocity language marked by jagged percussion and shadowy atmospheres tied to Angola’s civil war. His releases Enclave and Guerrilla on Hyperdub frame a narrative where family history and club energy meet head‑on.
German artist Dana Ruh steps to the decks with a clear sense of groove, adding another contour to the night’s arc. Purelink completes the bill, opening a different window within the series’ range.
