Info
On 1 September 2026, Ora Cogan brings her songs to Neue Zukunft in Berlin. The Canadian singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist builds, with Hard Hearted Woman, a sonic world between folk, psych-rock and a dark streak of country. Her pieces probe the margins of everyday life, speaking of hardness and resilience and of staying open when it’s difficult. Sometimes stripped-down and intimate, sometimes denser and more driving, Cogan lets melodies slowly bloom and then fray, with a manner of storytelling that leaves room for doubt, curiosity and small ruptures. The set draws lines from intimate ballads to shimmering, slightly distorted passages — without pathos, with an eye for detail.
Support comes from Elaine Malone. Born in Limerick and long part of Cork’s DIY scene, she weaves psych-rock, dark folk and shoegaze textures with a quiet country inheritance. References to ’90s grunge, The Velvet Underground or Lee Hazlewood shimmer through without overwhelming the core. As a multi-instrumentalist, Malone shapes her songs from guitar, bass, percussion and harmonium. Since the debut EP Land (2018) she has been developing narratives that slowly gather momentum, swell in waves and recede again — precisely constructed, yet open to friction in the moment.
