Joel Sarakula

Joel Sarakula is an artist from Australia and the United Kingdom who writes, produces and sings Soulful Pop, viewing the contemporary world through vintage-era spectacles. His music draws on a rich musical and visual palette inspired by the 1970s, with influences from soft rock, funk and disco, which he filters to suit our darker times without losing hope.

Born in Sydney, based in London and with an international profile, Sarakula is a songwriter who has travelled the world in search of his muse, experiencing everything from falling victim to car thefts in the Caribbean to performing in remote fishing villages in Norway, as well as in dingy bars across Europe and the United States.

His previous albums "Island Time" (2023), "Companionship" (2020), "Love Club" (2018), "The Imposter" (2015) and "The Golden Age" (2013) have garnered airplay on British and European radio and earned him attention from The New York Times, The Independent (UK), The Irish Times, Shindig! (UK), Stern (Germany), Rolling Stone Germany, El País (Spain) and Les Inrockuptibles (France), and he has been interviewed on TVE.
