De Staat will play on 10 November 2026 at Band on the Wall in Manchester. The Nijmegen-based band led by Torre Florim has mixed angular guitars, a prominent bass and tight, repetitive patterns since 2006, drawing on post-punk, dance and indie rock. Groove and repetition are central, with chants and slogans that reinforce the rhythm. From Wait for Evolution and Machinery through I_CON and O to Bubble Gum, the sound shifted toward more synthetic textures without giving up the compact group dynamic. With Rocco Hueting, Jop van Summeren and Tim van Delft, De Staat builds tightly wound live songs where riffs grind, beats propel and melodies linger.
Hiqpy opens the evening. The Amsterdam four-piece, formed in 2023 at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, pairs thick layers of guitar with direct hooks, somewhere between indie, alt‑rock, grunge, shoegaze and lo‑fi. Abir Hamam (vocals, guitar), Victor ter Veld (guitar), Tom Radsma (bass) and Kasper de Boer (drums) first made their name on the Popronde circuit and at festivals such as Noorderslag, Paaspop and Best Kept Secret, with a live release in 2024 and the single "Something" in 2025. A young band that places the interplay between tension and melody at its core.
