Original British ska with The Beat featuring Ranking Jnr takes over The Factory Live, Worthing, on 10 October 2026. Formed at the turn of the 80s, The Beat fused soul, reggae, pop and punk into tight, off‑beat grooves that defined the 2 Tone wave alongside The Specials, The Selecter and Madness. Their debut single, a sharp take on Smokey Robinson’s Tears of a Clown, hit the UK charts in 1979 and set the pace for three studio albums that shaped their sound: I Just Can’t Stop It, Wha’ppen? and Special Beat Service.
