On July 7, 2026 at 6:00 pm at Rough Trade East, Rough Trade Recommends presents TVOD, HIGHDRIVE and Honk. Rough Trade's monthly new music showcase returns with up-and-coming acts in the alternative scene.
TVOD
Brooklyn-based rockers TVOD stand out with emotional, sometimes juvenile lyrics, paired with driving, catchy songs that often get a crowd moving and moshing. Influenced by post-punk, egg punk and krautrock, TVOD weave musical genres. "More than anything, their sound is engineered to make you move" (Creem Magazine). The brainchild of singer-songwriter Tyler Wright, the project draws from personal and external inspirations like the nightlife and music scene, heartaches, World War II, the death of a pet fish, and so on. TVOD’s storytelling paints a gritty, tongue-in-cheek picture of being a D.I.Y. artist in NYC, with tales about the degenerate lifestyle and the good and the bad that come with it.
HIGHDRIVE
Forming in 2024 with a mutual appreciation for acts including Deftones, The Jesus and Mary Chain and DIIV, these influences have shaped a distinct sound for the Brighton upstarts, with the band becoming part of the South Coast live scene before releasing any music, scoring early shows alongside Marmozets, English Teacher, Do Nothing, TTSSFU, DEADLETTER, Welly and Glare.
Honk
Honk are a genre-warping six-piece that rework country music. It’s called "Trashcan Country" — a rough-edged twist on twang, pulled through the back alleys of punk, doused in garage-rock grit, and left to dry in the sun.
At the core of Honk is their live show — part hoedown and part meltdown — which has earned them support slots with artists like Meryl Streak, Delivery and Being Dead, as well as support from BBC 6 Music’s Marc Riley. With The Real Red Foley, Randy Harrison, Chubby Hellrat, Yeehaw Culhane, L.E. Steel and Stanley Knife at the helm, Honk deliver an energetic sound.
