Republica

Republica bring their 90s-bred collision of alternative rock and electronic pulse to Chalk in Brighton and Hove on 6 November 2026. Formed by Tim Dorney and Andy Todd and fronted by Saffron, the band carved out a sound where taut guitars, breakbeat-driven programming and synth-pop hooks move as one. Early singles like Out of This World and Bloke led into the albums Republica (1996) and Speed Ballads (1998), placing them close to the UK big beat moment, with Saffron’s feature on The Prodigy’s Fuel My Fire marking that shared territory.

Back on the road since their 2008 return, Republica have kept the catalogue alive while adding new chapters with the Christiana Obey EP (2013) and recent singles New York (2023) and Hallelujah (2024). On stage today, the show centres on Saffron’s upfront vocals and a live mix that threads their 90s material with newer cuts, with Ready to Go rarely far from the set. At Chalk, they appear with special guests.
