Info
Heroe’s music is an intimate, sensitive, and ethereal pop that could be the soundtrack to life’s defining scenes. On “failles,” his first album in French, Heroe presents music that is raw, sincere, and vividly imagined—think Patrick Watson for the organic feel, Terrenoire for the lyrics, and Bon Iver for the melancholy.
An album in which Heroe is truly Mehdi: this Franco‑Moroccan who grew up with popular English‑language films and series like Into The Wild—romantic and pop, marked by a cathartic sincerity. Above all, Heroe is an artist who knew how to take his time: the time to learn guitar at 12 until his fingers hurt, the time to discover Lo‑Fi music and successful rock acts, to dream with major dreampop bands like Daughter or Angus & Julia Stone, and then to buy his own music equipment and, that same evening, give birth to his first song, “Prom Night.”
In a single night, thanks to a share on the music‑discovery YouTube channel Inès K, Heroe gained visibility and followers on streaming platforms. He then refined his live show on stages across Normandy—where he met Léo Chatelier, founder of the Duchess label—and took part in local talent showcases before moving to Paris. Success began to appear: 50,000 monthly listeners on his early tracks, rising to 400,000 after his collaboration with rapper Rxseboy on “Leaving.”
In 2021, Heroe signed with Duchess and worked with Arthur Lacroix and Marc Le Goff on his album “failles,” his first in French “so that people understand me,” he emphasizes. This album is by a 32‑year‑old artist from Normandy in love with indie and the imagination, content to be melancholic—because there is a joy in being sad, and because one day we will be “happy, but perhaps not in the way we expect,” he sings.
