Info

Self Esteem plays Tynemouth Priory and Castle on 11 July 2026 as part of Mouth of the Tyne Festival, with a set centred on Rebecca Lucy Taylor’s rhythmic, choral pop. Since stepping away from Slow Club, the Rotherham singer has shaped a solo project where heavy drums, tight vocal layers and spoken passages frame songs that look at everyday pressures, relationships and desire. On stage, the music moves between clean hooks and layered harmonies, with room for strings and choral textures drawn from her studio arrangements.

Drawing from Compliments Please (2019), Prioritise Pleasure (2021) and A Complicated Woman (2025), her live shows alternate dance-driven cuts and slower, more intimate numbers. She often brings a small choir, coordinated movement and a direct way of addressing the crowd. Her work for theatre and collaborations with Django Django, Craig Armstrong, Becky Hill and Moonchild Sanelly feed into a performance that treats pop as a flexible form, precise in structure and physical in delivery, well suited to the open air at Tynemouth.
