David Gray headlines Llangollen Pavilion on 26 June 2026, bringing three decades of finely honed songwriting. Breaking through in the 90s with guitar-led folk rock, he shifted on White Ladder toward spare piano lines and discreet electronic textures, the setting for songs like Babylon, This Year’s Love and Sail Away. Since then, records from A New Day at Midnight and Life in Slow Motion to Gold in a Brass Age and Skellig have moved between stripped-back confession and more atmospheric shades, always centred on that direct, grainy voice. On stage, he weaves the familiar with newer material, letting small loops and keys sit against warm acoustic guitars.
Special guest The Divine Comedy, the long-running project of Neil Hannon, turns pop into chamber pieces built on strings, piano and wry storytelling. From Liberation and Promenade through Casanova and Fin de Siècle to the more recent Office Politics, Hannon balances melody and observation, leaning into orchestration without losing pop bite. The pairing promises a dialogue between intimate folk-pop contours and literate, orchestrated songwriting at Llangollen Pavilion, Llangollen.
