The Strokes land at The O2, London, on 6 October 2026 with Reality Awaits, tracing the New York quintet’s sharp, melodic arc. Formed in 1998, Julian Casablancas, Nick Valensi, Albert Hammond Jr., Nikolai Fraiture and Fabrizio Moretti ont mis en place un son lean et guitar-driven qui a marqué le début des années 2000. From the taut rush of Is This It and Room on Fire to the sleeker angles of Angles, Comedown Machine and the Rick Rubin-produced The New Abnormal, their catalogue moves between garage bite and new wave shimmer. On stage, interlocking guitars and a no-frills rhythm section frame Casablancas’ slightly drawled vocals for songs that keep it tight.
Sydney’s Alex Cameron brings a pop palette where synths, soft-rock contours and slow-to-mid tempos carry a taste for first-person storytelling. After Jumping the Shark set the tone, Forced Witness and Miami Memory widened the scope without dropping the melodic hooks; Oxy Music leans toward gentler, synth-laced textures. With saxophonist Roy Molloy at his side, the live setup adds a grain that nudges the songs off-centre.
Fat White Family channel South London grit into a mix of post-punk, garage and psych with an art-rock streak. Led by Lias Saoudi, they moved from the lo-fi abrasion of Champagne Holocaust to the darker, keyboard-etched Songs for Our Mothers, then opened things up on Serfs Up! with pop and disco inflections. Forgiveness Is Yours continues that curve, balancing tension, groove and a skewed sense of melody.
