The Lemonheads

On 11 October 2026 at Rock City in Nottingham, The Lemonheads bring back Evan Dando’s bittersweet songcraft and elastic guitar pop. Formed in Boston in 1986, the band first cut its teeth in the punk and college rock circuit before easing into a more melodic alternative sound. Early releases like Hate Your Friends, Creator, Lick and Lovey set the pace, then It’s a Shame About Ray (1992) tightened the writing with jangly guitars and a clear pop sense, soon paired with their take on Mrs. Robinson. Around Dando, the lineup has shifted over time, with players such as Juliana Hatfield and Nic Dalton passing through.

Come on Feel the Lemonheads (1993) pushed the hooks and acoustic shades, while Car Button Cloth (1996) explored a darker tone. After a late-90s pause, Dando revived the name in 2005 with new collaborators including Bill Stevenson and Karl Alvarez, leading to the self-titled album in 2006 and two cover collections, Varshons (2009) and Varshons 2 (2019). At Rock City, the set draws across this catalogue, moving between punk urgency, melodic pop and folk-rock contours, from Ray and Come on Feel to later chapters and a few choice covers.
