Portugal. The Man

Portugal. The Man bring their shape-shifting indie rock to O2 Forum Kentish Town in London on 7 December 2026. Formed in mid-2000s Alaska and later based around Portland, the group first carved an experimental, lo-fi path on Waiter: “You Vultures!” and Church Mouth, then widened the palette on Censored Colors and The Satanic Satanist. American Ghetto and In the Mountain in the Cloud tightened melody and groove, before Evil Friends pushed the sound toward pop and electronics. Woodstock delivered Feel It Still, and Chris Black Changed My Life kept the balance between accessible forms and a rock backbone, with lyrics often grounded in social themes.

On stage, John Gourley’s light, elastic voice threads through fuzzy guitars, synth hooks and a rhythm section that flips from psych drift to clipped funk. Live sets tend to jump across eras, rework older cuts and fold newer singles into longer jams, keeping the band’s grain intact. Portugal. The Man continue to test the edges of indie rock while holding onto songs that stay in the head.
