Kevin Morby

Kevin Morby brings his intimate folk-rock songwriting to Chalk, Brighton, on 10 July 2026. Raised near Kansas City and first known as bassist with Woods before co-founding The Babies, the US singer-songwriter has built a catalog where plainspoken storytelling meets spare arrangements and unhurried grooves. From Harlem River and Still Life to Singing Saw and City Music, his songs wander between night streets and open-sky Midwest scenes. Oh My God and Sundowner stripped things back, while This Is a Photograph and its companion More Photographs circled memory, family snapshots and American landscapes with a steady, reflective pulse.

On stage, Morby shifts from hushed solo passages to full-band swells, giving space to his voice and melodies. His live set travels across the catalogue, from early lo-fi edges to the warmer textures of recent records, carried by guitars, organ and an easy rhythmic swing. Special guests join the bill for this Brighton date at Chalk.
