Cara Dillon

Cara Dillon is a notable voice in Irish music. She has received awards including the Meteor Award for Best Irish Female and four BBC Folk Awards. For close to 30 years, she has held a distinctive place in folk music. Her voice, delicate yet powerful, carries a timeless quality. She performs at Brewery Arts, Kendal, on 19 September 2026 at 6:30 pm.

Central to her career is her husband and collaborator, Sam Lakeman, whose work as composer, producer, and performer has helped shape Dillon's sound. Their live shows feature acoustic sets drawn from her discography. Songs such as 'Black Is the Colour' and 'The Parting Glass' appear alongside new material from Coming Home (2024), which combines spoken word and song around themes of identity and emotion.

From her early days in Óige and De Dannan, through releases with Warners and Rough Trade, her music has reached beyond folk's usual borders, from chart remixes and Disney soundtracks to the TV series Derry Girls.

With Coming Home, she continues her work as a singer and storyteller.
