On 11 June 2026, The Piece Hall in Halifax welcomes Madness. Born in Camden, the band forged a sharp, very British blend of ska, rocksteady and pop, with brass lines up front and rhythms built for movement. On stage they thread the 2 Tone roots into later, more melodic corners, drawing on early singles like One Step Beyond, Baggy Trousers or Our House alongside newer cuts from Theatre of the Absurd Presents C’est la Vie. Suggs leads with that storyteller’s phrasing, while the band keeps the groove clipped, punchy and close to the street.
Also on the bill, Hollie Cook extends the reggae spectrum with a soft-focus, tropical pop touch. After a stint with The Slits, she carved a solo path with albums Hollie Cook, Twice, Vessel of Love and Happy Hour, shaping songs where bass and keys carry a gentle sway and the voice floats above the mix. Live, her warm, modern take on reggae sets an easy flow that slides naturally into Madness’s ska-pop pulse, opening the night with color and calm before the brass kicks up.
