Info
The Maine, formed in 2007 in Tempe, move between pop rock clarity and alternative grit, with writing that keeps emotion upfront. From the emo-pop spark of Can’t Stop Won’t Stop to the more guitar-driven turns of Black & White and Pioneer, then the melodic lift of Forever Halloween and American Candy, up to the concise punch of their 2023 self-titled album, the band has shaped a catalogue anchored by clean riffs, big choruses and a tight rhythm section framing John O’Callaghan’s voice. Under the banner “I love you, but… I chose The Maine,” they bring that arc to O2 Institute Birmingham on 24 September 2026.
Grayscale open with Philadelphia-bred melodies at the crossroads of pop punk, emo and contemporary alternative. Early material like Adornment set their taste for brisk tempos and crisp guitars, while Nella Vita and Umbra widened the palette with smoother grooves, layered vocals and pop-leaning textures. Collin Walsh’s delivery ties it all together, carrying themes of relationships, family and mental health, and tracing a clear line from their early edge to their more nuanced recent work.
