Nubiyan Twist, Tara Lily, Tadi the Great (dj)

Nubiyan Twist bring their 9-piece collective to Epic Studios in Norwich on 22 May 2026. Formed in Leeds and now split between Leeds and London, the group led by composer-guitarist Tom Excell blends contemporary jazz with afrobeat, hip-hop, soul, Latin shades, reggae and dance music. Tight horns, live percussion and soulful vocals shape arrangements that balance improvisation and sharp, orchestrated grooves.

On stage, they move through tracks spanning their self-titled debut, Jungle Run, Freedom Fables and Find Your Flame, folding in influences from across the African and Caribbean diasporas alongside UK jazz and beat culture. The music flips from head-nod rhythms to dancefloor momentum, keeping space for melodic hooks and detailed interplay between sections.

Expect layered brass lines, rhythm-section drive and call-and-response vocals carried by a big-band feel. Nubiyan Twist’s live setup leans into collective energy and precision, with the ensemble’s shifting textures and solos feeding into long-form grooves built to keep the room moving at Epic Studios, Norwich.
