Editors

Editors take over Rock City, Nottingham on 8 March 2027. Formed in Birmingham in 2002, the band built its name on sharp guitars, taut rhythms and Tom Smith’s low voice, captured on The Back Room (2005) and An End Has a Start (2007). With In This Light and on This Evening (2009), synths moved closer to the front. After guitarist Chris Urbanowicz left in 2012, the arrival of Justin Lockey and Elliott Williams opened a path toward more atmospheric rock and dark pop across The Weight of Your Love (2013), In Dream (2015) and Violence (2018). The Black Gold compilation (2019) linked past and present with a handful of new tracks. In 2022, Editors folded electronic musician Benjamin John Power into the line-up and released EBM, where industrial-tinged textures and propulsive pulses took a bigger role. On stage, this evolution shows in sets that move from the early post-punk revival sound to denser, synth-led material, with Smith’s baritone as the thread. Recent tours have leaned into the electronic direction without losing the band’s guitar roots.
