Info
Aldous Harding brings her singular folk-pop to Bristol Beacon, Bristol, on 2 June 2026. Raised in Lyttelton on New Zealand’s South Island, the singer and songwriter has shaped a body of work that starts from stripped-back folk and edges into an intimate, slightly experimental pop. After an eponymous debut in 2014, she joined 4AD for Party in 2017 with producer John Parish, opening the songs to subtle keys, discreet arrangements and playful shifts of voice. Designer (2019) and Warm Chris (2022) pushed further into chamber-pop contours while keeping the bones bare.
On stage, Harding moves between guitar and piano, solo or with a band, letting quiet dynamics and space carry the tension. The writing stays elliptical, the melodies sinuous, and the vocal phrasing can switch character from one song to the next. Her sets often draw from across these four albums, with pieces reshaped for the room, sliding from hushed ballads to more oblique pop sketches. A performance anchored in minimal textures, measured intensity and a precise sense of phrasing.
