Marrapalooza present Los Campesinos!

Los Campesinos! return to the North East for their first Newcastle show since 2017, playing Marrapalooza at Northumbria Students' Union, Newcastle upon Tyne, on Friday 5 June 2026. Formed in Cardiff in the mid-2000s, the seven-piece have carved their own space in UK indie, folding dense, word-packed songwriting into fast, guitar-led pop where keys, violin and percussion add bite and colour. Across Hold On Now, Youngster… and We Are Beautiful, We Are Doomed, through Romance Is Boring and Hello Sadness, to NO BLUES, Sick Scenes and 2024’s All Hell, they’ve shifted from frantic spark to a leaner, weightier sound without losing their knack for hooks and detail.

On stage, the band’s call-and-response vocals led by Gareth Paisey, knotty riffs and tumbling rhythms turn confession into a collective singalong. Lyrics lace football nods with tangled love stories and plain-spoken self-scrutiny, the kind that fans carry around for years. With a catalogue that runs on emotional clarity and restless energy, Los Campesinos! bring a set built for sweat and shared voices, reconnecting with Newcastle at long last.
