Info
Aldous Harding lands at The 1865 in Southampton on 26 May 2026. Coming from Lyttelton in New Zealand, the singer and songwriter has built a body of work that starts in stripped folk and drifts toward intimate, slightly exploratory pop. A self-titled debut in 2014 set a bare, acoustic frame; Party followed in 2017 on 4AD with John Parish, opening space for keys, discreet arrangements and sharp shifts in vocal register. Designer (2019) and Warm Chris (2022) extended that move toward chamber-pop contours while keeping a folk backbone and elliptical writing at the center. On stage, Harding moves between guitar and piano, solo or with a tight group, playing with silence, tempo and timbre rather than big gestures. The songs stretch and contract, melodies take small detours, and the voice steers the room with a theatrical but precise way of phrasing. A set that draws across her catalogue, balancing minimal textures with a focus on words and dynamics, close and quietly intense.
