Info

Big Country play The Lemon Tree in Aberdeen on Wednesday 17 June 2026. Formed in Dunfermline in 1981 around Stuart Adamson with Bruce Watson, Tony Butler and Mark Brzezicki, the band carved a path between post-punk and new wave, building a taut, melodic rock where chiming guitars echo bagpipes and threads of Scottish tradition. That sound runs through The Crossing (1983), Steeltown (1984), The Seer (1986) and Peace in Our Time (1988), before a more direct turn on No Place Like Home (1991), Why the Long Face (1995) and Driving to Damascus (1999). After Adamson’s passing, Big Country returned to the stage from 2007 with new line-ups led by Bruce Watson, and released The Journey in 2013. On stage today, the group leans into sturdy riffs and clear-cut melodies, balancing electric folk accents with straight-ahead rock. A set that draws from the early classics and later cuts, carried by those ringing guitar lines that have become their signature, back on home soil in Aberdeen.
