Haircut 100

Haircut 100 bring their rhythm-led pop back to the stage on 15 May 2026 at De La Warr Pavilion in Bexhill. Formed in Beckenham at the start of the 80s, the group shaped a blend of new wave, new pop, jazz-funk and Brit funk: clean guitars, elastic bass lines, sax motifs and busy percussion. A run of singles in 1981–82 and the debut album Pelican West (1982) set the tone, with concise, melodic writing built for movement. Nick Heyward’s departure in 1983 shifted the balance and the band paused after a final album in 1984. Occasional reunions followed from 2004, and since 2023 the core line-up of Heyward, Les Nemes, Graham Jones and Blair Cunningham has been back on the road.

On stage today, Haircut 100 lean into that catalogue with tight arrangements and an unfussy groove, letting riffs, breaks and harmonies carry the songs. The set tends to trace early singles and Pelican West highlights, with the interplay of guitar, bass, sax and percussion front and centre.
