On 6 October 2026 at Saint Luke's & The Winged Ox in Glasgow, Jake Xerxes Fussell brings his singular way of revisiting American folk. Raised in Columbus, Georgia and now based in Durham, North Carolina, he draws from the popular repertoires and field recordings of the American South, reshaping ballads, work songs and strands of country blues with a contemporary Americana touch. From his self-titled debut in 2015 through What in the Natural World (2017), Out of Sight (2019) and Good and Green Again (2022), he keeps a steady dialogue with sound archives and oral traditions. On stage, he leans into moderate tempos, clear, melodic guitar lines and understated arrangements—sometimes a rhythm section or light brass—so the stories, places and regional turns of phrase at the heart of these songs can breathe.
Sharing the bill, English singer-songwriter and bassist Naima Bock offers her own perspective, a voice-led set that balances the evening and opens a different path through contemporary songwriting.
