Info
Teenage Fanclub play The Academy in Dublin on 17 November 2026. Formed in Bellshill near Glasgow in 1989, the band built a sound where saturated guitars, clear melodies and close harmonies meet. First driven by the trio of Norman Blake, Gerard Love and Raymond McGinley, the group moved from the raw edges of A Catholic Education (1990) to the tighter songwriting of Bandwagonesque (1991), sketching a line between power pop, jangle pop and 90s alternative rock. Since Gerard Love’s departure in 2018, the band continues around Blake and McGinley, keeping the same measured approach to tempo and arrangement.
On stage, Teenage Fanclub draw from a catalogue that balances understated refrains and interlaced guitar work. The 90s core—Thirteen (1993), Grand Prix (1995), Songs from Northern Britain (1997)—sits naturally alongside later chapters: Howdy! (2000), Man-Made (2005), Shadows (2010) and Here (2016). Recent albums Endless Arcade (2021) and Nothing Lasts Forever (2023) extend that melodic clarity, favouring unhurried songs and shared vocals over ornament. Expect a set shaped by craft and continuity, carried by harmonies, chiming chords and subtle dynamic shifts that have defined the band since their beginnings.
