Info

On 21 August 2026 at The Academy in Dublin, Stiff Little Fingers bring their razor-edged, melodic punk shaped in late-70s Belfast. Led by Jake Burns, the band built songs that faced everyday life and the political climate head-on, carried by straight guitars, tight rhythms and choruses made to be shouted back. Early statements like Suspect Device and Alternative Ulster opened the road to Inflammable Material, then Nobody’s Heroes and Go for It. After a reunion in 1987, SLF kept writing and touring without losing that direct line, from Flags and Emblems to No Going Back. The current lineup — Burns, Ali McMordie, Ian McCallum and Steve Grantley — draws a clear thread between the first singles and the later records.

Formed in London in 1977, The Ruts fold reggae, dub and ska into punk with a bassist’s forward motion and drum-and-groove reflexes. In a Rut set the tone, before Babylon’s Burning, Jah War and Staring at the Rude Boys fixed their mix in 1979 on The Crack. After Malcolm Owen’s death, the group continued as Ruts D.C., leaning into dub with Mad Professor on Rhythm Collision, then re-emerged from 2007 around Segs Jennings and Dave Ruffy with guitarist Leigh Heggarty. Recent releases like Music Must Destroy and Counterculture? keep that tension between riff, riddim and social bite alive.
