The Lemonheads

On October 16, 2026 at Die Kantine Kulturbetrieb in Cologne, The Lemonheads return with the songs from Love Chant, their first studio album in nearly twenty years. Written across continents and recorded largely in São Paulo, Evan Dando’s new material reconnects him with longtime allies while opening the door to fresh collaborators. J Mascis, Juliana Hatfield, Tom Morgan, Bryce Goggin, Erin Rae and Nick Saloman all leave a mark on tracks that move between upbeat hooks and quieter shades — from the punch of Deep End to the softness of The Key Of Victory and the driving title cut. It’s the band’s melodic instinct, unadorned and direct.

Formed in Boston in 1986, The Lemonheads grew out of punk and college rock into a more tuneful, guitar-forward alternative sound, with Dando as the constant. Early Taang! releases led to Lovey, then the breakthrough pairing of It’s a Shame About Ray and Come On Feel The Lemonheads, where bright choruses met a more acoustic streak. Lineups shifted, the core stayed the same: wry, vulnerable, catchy songwriting. After a solo detour, a 2006 reboot and two cover sets, Love Chant picks up the thread. In Cologne, expect a set where the new songs sit naturally beside the band’s enduring highlights, carried by Dando’s voice and those clear, ringing guitars.
