Tales of the Unexpected

Tales of the Unexpected welcomes Maribou State for a focused session. On 11 September 2026 at Akasha Ibiza in Sant Carles de Peralta, Chris Davids and Liam Ivory bring the hybrid sound they’ve shaped since 2011: downtempo lines, slow-burn house, soul-leaning harmonies and organic textures, all folded into club momentum. From the melodic frames of Portraits to Kingdoms in Colour and their 2025 album Hallucinating Love, the duo keep a steady balance between pulse, vocals and atmosphere.

On stage, that means supple drums, roomy basslines and vocal motifs used like instruments, with occasional brushes of breakbeat and hazy groove. Known for working with Holly Walker and for teaming with Khruangbin on Feel Good, Maribou State favour dynamics over big drops and seek a warm, human feel. Within the Tales of the Unexpected framework, their set promises a patient build and detail-rich transitions—true to the series’ breadth while staying rooted in their own signature.
