Bristol’s The Longest Johns bring their tide-worn harmonies to The Pearl in Vancouver, BC, on July 15, 2025. Rooted in maritime folk, the group began as an a cappella quartet before folding in acoustic instruments, tight harmonies and simple percussion. On stage, they swing from traditional sea shanties and call-and-response work songs to original pieces that lean on folk storytelling, turning the room into a chorus without forcing it.
Their catalog maps the journey: Written in Salt and Between Wind and Water lay the groundwork, Cures What Ails Ya balances traditionals with self-penned cuts like Bones in the Ocean, and Smoke & Oakum pushes the blend toward a lean, contemporary folk feel.
