The Dead South

On October 30, 2026, The Dead South bring their raw, quick-picking bluegrass-folk to Le Club Dix30 in Brossard. Formed in Regina in 2012, the quartet — Nate Hilts, Scott Pringle, Colton Crawford and Danny Kenyon — lines up banjo, mandolin, guitar and cello around tight harmonies and a driving pulse. Known for In Hell I’ll Be in Good Company and the albums Good Company, Illusion & Doubt, Sugar & Joy and Chains & Stakes, they splice old-time roots with a modern edge, somewhere between porch songs and road tales. On stage, the band favors short, punchy arrangements, sudden tempo shifts and traded vocals with a dry sense of humor. The mood moves from dust-kicked instrumentals to rough-hewn ballads, keeping the focus on rhythm, melody and the push-and-pull of their strings. Bluegrass purists, curious folk fans or newcomers meet at the same place: four players, no frills, and a set built on timing, stories and the snap of a well-placed break.
