Info

The Black Angels bring the Passover 2026 Tour to Vancouver on November 10, 2026 at the Commodore Ballroom. Formed in Austin in 2004, the band has carved out a hypnotic strain of psych rock rooted in garage grit and 60s shadows. Around Alex Maas and Christian Bland, their sound stacks saturated guitars, murky keyboards and heavy, looping rhythms, with songs that build through repetition more than release. From Passover, Directions to See a Ghost and Phosphene Dream to Indigo Meadow, Death Song and Wilderness of Mirrors, they trace a line where drones, mid-tempo pulses and sharpened melodies sit side by side. On stage, the grooves stretch and throb, trading sudden accelerations for patient tension, while lyrics circle war, paranoia and the present’s frictions.

Opening, Ghost Woman tightens the focus. Led by Canadian songwriter Evan Uschenko and joined by Belgian multi-instrumentalist Ille van Dessel, the project works a lean, slightly lo-fi psych garage with dry guitars, terse hooks and steady, repetitive figures. Electric folk shades, a discreet krautrock undertow and a touch of post‑punk give contour to compact songs heard on Ghost Woman (2022), Anne, If (2023) and Hindsight Is 50/50 (2024). Live, the duo keeps it close to the bone: minimal gear, clipped patterns, a direct drive that turns small variations into motion.
