On September 4, 2026, Default brings their Vancouver-bred post-grunge to the OLG Stage at Fallsview Casino in Niagara Falls, with special guest Wide Mouth Mason. Formed at the end of the 1990s, the band carved a place in the early-2000s Canadian rock wave with a sound at the junction of hard rock and alternative, mixing thick guitars, straight-to-the-point melodies and a darker edge without tipping into metal. Built around singer Dallas Smith with Jeremy Hora on guitar, Dave Benedict on bass and Danny Craig on drums, Default stacked a catalogue that runs from The Fallout (2001) and Elocation (2003) to One Thing Remains (2005) and Comes and Goes (2009). On stage, that mix leans on weighty textures and a vocal delivery that keeps the tension tight.
Wide Mouth Mason brings a blues-rock core that folds in funk, soul and pop hints. Launched in the mid-90s out of Saskatoon around Shaun Verreault and Safwan Javed, the group first broke through with an independent debut The Nazarene (1996) and a self-titled record in 1997, before pushing the blues further on Rained Out Parade (2002). Later releases like Shot Down Satellites (2005), No Bad Days (2011) and the more stripped-back I Wanna Go with You (2019) sharpen a rootsy approach centered on riffs, taut rhythms and a live feel where groove and controlled improvisation set the tone.
