Info

Deep Purple takes over Place Bell in Laval on 17 August 2026, joined by special guest Kansas. Since the late 60s, the British band has shaped a hard rock vocabulary built on heavy guitar riffs, a blazing Hammond organ and a tight, propulsive rhythm section, carried by a voice with a wide range. The Mark II era with Ritchie Blackmore, Ian Gillan, Ian Paice, Roger Glover and Jon Lord anchored albums like In Rock, Machine Head and Fireball, and set down tracks that still resonate: Smoke on the Water, Highway Star, Child in Time. Through decades and line-up changes, Deep Purple keeps writing and touring with the same direct, unmistakable sound.

Formed in Topeka in the early 70s, Kansas blends progressive structures with melodic rock. Guitars and keyboards drive the songs alongside layered harmonies and, in the early years, a violin that defined many arrangements. The band took shape on the 1974 debut, then sharpened its identity on Song for America, Leftoverture and Point of Know Return. Over the years, Kansas has moved between long-form pieces and more immediate cuts, a balance heard again on The Prelude Implicit and The Absence of Presence. A two-band bill that traces several decades of rock at Place Bell.
