Duplessy et Les Violons du Monde

On 13 June 2026 at the Alhambra in Vittel, French composer and guitarist Mathias Duplessy presents his project Duplessy and the Violins of the World. True to his taste for musical encounters, he sets his guitar in dialogue with the strings of Sabir Khan (India, sarangi), Zied Zouari (Tunisia, oriental violin), Guo Gan (China, erhu), Madaakh Daansuren (Mongolia, morin khuur and voice) and Aliocha Regnard (France-Sweden, nyckelharpa). On stage, the bows answer one another, shift from one mode to another, and weave a repertoire that crosses traditions without freezing them.

This concert accompanies their fourth album, The Road with You. The new pieces, sung or instrumental, are rooted in the string sound and open onto pop, cinematic, jazz or minimalist colours. You hear circulating themes, counter-melodies, ostinatos, timbral rubs and spaces for improvisation where each player displays their own signature. The gesture is collective, the pulse shared, and the ensemble offers a clear journey through timbres and rhythms, led by Duplessy’s guitar and five bowed instruments from India, Tunisia, China, Mongolia and Scandinavia.
