Gaëtan Roussel

Gaëtan Roussel is back on tour and brings his guitars to Metz on 12 February 2027, at the Arènes de Metz. Singer and songwriter of Louise Attaque, he has, since the 1990s, shaped a distinctive way of making the language sound—somewhere between spoken-singing, repetitive motifs and refrains that land with precision. After the stripped-back outing of Tarmac, he traces a clear solo line where song meets pop and a rock with understated arrangements. Ginger, Orpailleur, Trafic and Est-ce que tu sais? punctuate this path, nourishing a repertoire of micro-stories of everyday life and simple images that stick in the ear.

On stage, Roussel goes straight to the essentials: voice forward, taut guitars without showmanship, pulses that hold steady and let the words breathe. You find the same precise writing, a taste for the motif that insists just enough, and a collective energy that lifts the chorus without forcing it. A composer for film and a craftsman alongside artists such as Alain Bashung and Rachid Taha, he has for years assembled a francophone pop puzzle with shifting contours. In Metz, it’s an opportunity to enter this flow at human scale, between confidences, rhythmic surges and songs that chart a course.
