Magic Malik Orchestra

On May 19, 2026, at the Amphithéâtre - La Manufacture in Aix-en-Provence, Magic Malik Orchestra places Malik Mezzadri’s flute at the heart of an ensemble conceived as a collective laboratory. The project sits at the crossroads of contemporary jazz, improvised music and Afro-Caribbean rhythms, featuring dense rhythmic writing, fluid arrangements and open spaces for improvisation. It presents hypnotic polyrhythms, staggered unisons and supple shifts between composition and interaction, where each musician finds their place without overpowering the group.

Having passed through Abidjan and Guadeloupe before the French jazz scene, Magic Malik has honed a language that draws as much from funk as from contemporary music. In concert, the orchestra is not mere accompaniment for the soloist: it unfolds a shared territory where the flute traces delicate melodic lines, propels motifs and converses with a mobile rhythm section. Audiences come for the collective energy, the shifts in mood, the graceful ruptures and those moments when the framework opens to let improvisation run free. A performance conceived as an extension of Magic Malik’s universe, to be heard up close and experienced from within.
