Ara Malikian

On 27 July 2026 at Starlite Festival - Auditorio Marbella, in Marbella, Ara Malikian returns with a concert focused on his violin and on that crossroads that defines his trajectory. Born in Beirut to an Armenian family and trained in Europe, Malikian has forged a language that starts in the classical repertoire and opens up to the music of the Near East, Armenian tradition and Spanish influences, with nods to rock and jazz.

On stage he alternates works by composers such as Bach, Paganini and Piazzolla with reinterpretations of contemporary songs and pieces inspired by various Mediterranean cultures. His way of playing moves the violin away from mere virtuosity toward a more narrative realm: shifts of dynamics, rhythms that bring the classical closer to popular pulse, and a close rapport with the audience. Between chamber passages and more rhythmical moments, the programme unfolds like a journey through styles and accents that converse without hierarchy.
