Maruja

Info

On 13 April 2026 at Santeria Toscana 31 in Milan, Maruja brought to the stage their cutting mix of post‑punk, free jazz, rap and breakbeat. The British four‑piece built sets that keep tension high without losing control: a tight rhythm section, abrasive guitar, occasionally improvised horns and vocals that slip between spoken‑word and rap flow. At the centre is the chemistry among the four, which pushes the music beyond genres and uses it as a language of protest and transcendence rather than a mere stylistic exercise.

After touring 24 countries and debuting at SXSW, the band announced the album Pain to Power, due 12 September on Music For Nations. In Milan, the new songs intertwined with those that forged their live reputation: long crescendos, nervous grooves, sudden breaks and suspended moments. A physical, visceral live show where the urgency of post‑punk meets the freedom of free jazz and the fractured beats of breakbeat, leaving no room for overly tight labels.
