Buzzcocks

On May 15, 2026 at The Opera House in Toronto, Buzzcocks bring the punch and melody rooted in their Manchester beginnings. Formed in 1976, the band first made noise with the DIY Spiral Scratch EP, then hit a run of lean, hook-driven records — Another Music in a Different Kitchen, Love Bites and A Different Kind of Tension — where punk speed met pop economy and lyrics circled desire, doubt and everyday tension.

After an early 80s split, Buzzcocks returned through the 90s and 2000s with new albums and a steady live presence. In recent years, and now with Steve Diggle on lead vocals following Pete Shelley’s passing in 2018, they have stuck to a direct, melodic approach on releases like The Way and Sonics in the Soul (2022).

On stage, it’s short, sharp songs, buzzing guitars and a rhythm section that keeps everything right to the point, drawing from early singles and newer cuts. Buzzcocks at The Opera House, Toronto, on May 15, 2026.
