Rowwen Heze

Rowwen Hèze will perform on 9 October 2026 at Metropool, Hengelo. The band from America in Limburg formed in the mid-1980s around singer and songwriter Jack Poels, with one clear aim: to bring together rock, folk and the language of home. In their dialect they sing stories about village life, family, work, celebrations and longing. Musically they move from folk-rock to Tex-Mex, brass-band and polka; accordion and brass colour the sound on top of a straightforward rhythm section.

What began with a few covers quickly grew into an original repertoire that kept the group on the map for decades in halls, tents and festivals across the Netherlands and just over the border. Along the way they frequently collaborated with local brass ensembles, without losing the band’s core: songs that hit close to home and invite you to join in straight away.

In Hengelo Rowwen Hèze will bring that mix to the stage: driving numbers, songs that breathe, choruses you understand in no time, all carried by Poels's voice and the interplay of accordion and brass.
